Vintage 1920s Brush-McCoy Blue Onyx Vase

Glazed in a stunning dark cobalt blue, and frothy blue-white. One of the nicest examples of the blue onyx glaze we have seen. Rim is slightly rough. Two small glaze miss areas are deep green. See photos.

Stands 6 1/2 inches in diameter x 2 1/2 inches tall.

Great swirls of color.

Here is a beautiful Silver Springs Pottery Bowl, in their distinctive marbleized swirled clay. Made by hand on the potters wheel at Silver Springs Pottery, Silver Springs, Florida. This rare bowl is signed: Silver Springs, Fla. The swirled clay is a combination of marbleized green, beige and red terracotta. The finish is matte outside, glazed inside.

bowl – 3 1/2″ diameter x 2 1/2″ tall

Several vintage pottery makers had their own particular ways of making vessels out of swirled clay. They are all quite prized by collectors. They offer infinite variety in shape, color and style.

Multicolored pottery with these distinctive swirls was made by Henry A. Graack, assisted by Madelyn Graack, from the 1930’s until his death 1966 for the tourist trade, at Sliver Springs, Florida. H.A. Graack, from Kolding, Denmark, had a small stand on the grounds of Silver Springs, Florida where he turned pottery and sold it to the tourists. During the summers, Graack made very similar pottery at Fort Ticonderoga, NY.

Extremely scarce white background on this lovely item!

ONE (1) Gorgeous Vintage Moorcroft Pottery Clematis Flower Candlestick. Made in England. Inked initial looks like a backwards N. Very old Moorcroft Royal Warrant label or sticker, bearing the arms of H M Queen Mary, somewhat worn away, especially at the bottom of the label. You can just make out the letter “s” in the word “Potters”. It is an important date clue.

Research indicates this lovely piece was created circa 1953 – 1978, because it bears the Moorcroft Royal Warrant Paper label stating ‘By Appointment Potters To The Late Queen Mary’. This Royal warrant expired in 1978 on the 25th anniversary of Queen Mary’s death.

Color names are subjective. The decoration glaze colors might be described thus: Flower in purple / plum / blue / mauve. Green leaves. All expertly executed.

Candlestick measures approx. 3-1/2″ tall x 1-5/8″ in diameter across the top x 3-7/8″ in diameter across the bottom. Fits regular (3/4″ diameter) candles.

Outstanding and scarce RumRill Vase from the 1930s. Designed and marketed by ceramics entrepreneur George Rumrill. Among the most interesting of his vase designs. The vessel features gracefully curved handles and rim. and a great matte green glaze, so popular then and now for art pottery.

The #288 vase is from the Grecian Group as shown on page 25 of the Reiss book on Redwing and RumRill Pottery.

Bottom is signed RUMRILL 288 impressed mark. See photo.

Capture the essence of the Arts and Crafts Movement with this superb green glazed vase. The trumpet shape is strongly defined and springs energetically from the round disc shaped lily pad foot. The glaze is applied with a graduated or ombré effect, pale near the rim and quite dark at the foot. There is uniform age crazing which provides a lovely luster.

Vintage C C Cole Vase – 1940s Multi Colored Vase with Two Handles / North Carolina Pottery

Great Calico Glaze.

This charming North Carolina Pottery vase features two handles and a carefree, whimsical application of colorful glazes in a shape and style that is unmistakably by Charley (C C) Cole (1887-1967) of Seagrove, North Carolina.

Pleasantly reminiscent of an earlier time, this vase is handmade and hand finished by a noted potter from the Catawba Valley, a quiet region of North Carolina, and will only appreciate as the years unfold.

The C.C. Cole (Charlie Cole) workshop opened in 1938. Charlie Cole was a master potter, but he gave up turning after he lost a finger because of a snake bite. His daughter Dorothy Auman and son-in-law Walter Auman and others worked with him at his pottery and this C C Cole Pottery bowl may have been made by one of them. Cole was a master potter who made fine work that was brought home from NC to every corner of the globe.

The great majority of C. C. Cole Pottery pieces are unmarked, as is this one. But that is not a problem; along with the easily identifiable shape and glaze, the unmarked base is one more confirmation that it is by C. C. Cole.

Low Bowl Vase – Ozarks Pottery – with Great Swirls of Green Color

Here is a beautiful Craftsman Era / Mission Era / Arts and Crafts Era Matte Green Pottery Vase, in a rare and unusual multi-toned matte green marbleized or swirled design over white. The body of the vase is made from a white clay, as can be seen when the photo of the bottom. The vessel is very sturdy, thick-walled and hefty for its size. The effect – the “look” of this vessel perfectly embodies the ideals of the organic inspiration of the Craftsman – Mission – Prairie Style.

Mod Retro Spaceage Orange and Yellow Speckled Glaze Vase – Fabulous Shape – Amazing Color

You have not seen a vase like this, it is a studio piece, signed only with the artist’s initials JF.

The glossy glaze is so glossy that you are tempted to think this is a colorful blown glass vessel, but no, it is pottery. The orange with yellow (and hints of intense orange-red) just pops no matter where you put this vase. It is so bright and joyous.

Roseville Rozane Mongol

Aren’t they delicious…!

The early 20th century potters worked hard to find an acceptable oxblood or “sang de boeuf” glaze that would emulate the best of the oriental glazes. These are particularly successful examples.

The horizontal and vertical lines suggest that these vintage art pottery bowls are from the rare Roseville line, developed in 1904, called Roseville Rozane Mongol.

In 1904, Roseville’s Mongol line created by John Herold, captured first prize at the St Louis Exposition.

This is a charming intage Art Pottery Bowl that could be used as a serving piece or a small centerpiece, or displayed just as it is. The bowl is in the form of a Sea Shell, with another smaller decorative sea shell serving as the handle.

The range of maroon, white and grey tones of the glaze are marvelous.

This bowl measures about between 3 inches.  Its widest measurement is about 4 inches wide by about 7 inches long.  This sea shell bowl is nicely signed on the bottom:  3/8/706/1 FF Italy
.  It is in very good Vintage Condition with a few rough spots on the “rings” on the rim.
